Happy Valentines day!
Hope you have a lovely day.
I enjoy making Valentines day crafts, but have yet to take a pic of this years result. Those felt hearts give you some indication of what the craft looks like however.
I've been absent on the blog again- for any good reason you ask? Well its that darn motivation thing that keeps creeping up on me. I'm struggling to stay motivated on the blog, and am trying to decide what to do next.
My lack of ambition towards the blog causes me to post inconsistently, which I am sure is annoying for those people that do check this blog on a daily basis.
The main reason I started the blog over two years ago was to share my daily joys, and new experiences here in England. I've touched on this before saying that now, the daily joys are still here, but its become everyday. So I switched to a focus on crafts, baking, sewing, ect. I enjoy posting on this, but now with the popularity of Pinterest- are people interested in reading about the domestic joys that comes with DIY and baking, or more interested to just 'pin it'?
It's not like I want a huge following by any means, but its nice to know that there is someone out there that enjoys my posts and would love to continue reading. However, if there ever was the potential to be invited to blogger events, or get more involved in the blog, I'd be keen.
I feel like its either an all or nothing mindset when it comes to the blog, and I'm kinda in the middle. I am going to take a break (and hit up the Alps for some snowboarding), and have a think. In the meantime I'd love to hear your thoughts.
What types of blogs do you read?
What makes you return to a blog again and again?
What would improve this blog?
General comments and feedback would be great.
:)
Well, I am sure I can speak for some of us that read your blog: we know and love you! I thoroughly enjoy your postings - ALL of them - love the weekly routine posts! I love the TRAVEL posts when you are venturing out. I miss your bicycle ones...I really like your photos - love when you find something quirky or interesting that we might not see in Canada or experience like a little laneway or old building. I enjoy your crafts, your cooking. I think it is fun to do the books ( love when you do books ) and maybe music you could add? Perhaps a CD each month/playlist? I also think you could do some on ART. Since you are a former ART teacher, you could post a particular painting and give us a little art history lesson each week - I would LOVE that! Anything on Fine Arts - music, art, dance, drama..things happening in your area. I think the most important thing is that we do return because we connect with your blog and I for one, look at it everyday to see the next post so you are most definitely doing something very RIGHT in blog-land! More fashion too! How about Fashion Friday?
ReplyDeleteI could go on and on Amanda...but ultimately you are the one that has to have desire and passion to keep it going ( I hope you get it back and we don't lose you as I'd miss it very much ! ) xo
Hope you had a great V Day! :)
ReplyDeleteI read almost any blog, because I enjoy sneak peeks into the lives of other people. I think as long as you're genuine and share yourself with readers, you'll have an audience. I love your blog!
Please don't stop the blog I love reading it everyday. My favs are the baking/cooking ones but I do so love the photos of "home" as well
ReplyDeleteHi! *waves* This is my first time here and I have to say I LOVE CRAFTS! What a fabulous picture. I'd love to see what you've done this year. It's nice to see people doing things I can't do!
ReplyDeleteI'm with Talli, though. I love to read blogs. I find the one's where people share a little about their lives keep me intrigued. I know on my blog people are addicted to my truths. They love to know my crazy quirks. What makes me tick.
Regardless I'll be sticking around! Consider me your newest stalker!
I love reading your blog....true I do love to 'pin it' lately. But there is nothing like catching up with what a friend is up to via her blog. Your writing is eloquent and enjoyable to read. I am sure with a week away you will find some 'new' inspiration. Perhaps it will be from the crisp air, cruising down the hill, or from the one you love. You never know what can happen in a week! Life is mysterious and full of surprises. Enjoy your week away! Sometimes January & February are just tricky months to get through. Enjoy the alps...you lucky girl! xoxo
ReplyDeleteDJC ;)
Ahh, I faced a similar dilemma. To keep blogging or to call it quits. And while clearly people enjoy blogging I have to wonder if you enjoy it and if you feel like you get something out of it. When I stopped to look at my blog I felt like it had slipped away from my initial intention and telling people that I tried a new muffin recipe wasn't that inspiring for me. Personally I felt like I was just adding to the infinite world of blog dribble. Everyone's out there doing it and now everyone is a blogger. Hmm. Tough call.
ReplyDeleteI would love for you to keep going. You crafting and baking inspires me to keep crafting and baking and I do enjoy catching up with some of your daily activities. All things considered I think you should blog for you and if you're not feeling it anymore I wouldn't hold it against you. I, personally, enjoyed calling it quits on my blog. I feel like should the mood hit me I might pick it back up but not for now.
Also, I think you've done a lovely job of categorizing your blog and having days to look forward to is always nice. I quite enjoy Taste of Britain :) And Cycle Sunday, but I imagine with the weather that'd have to hold off a bit.
Enjoy shredding :)
That was supposed to say *clearly people enjoy your blogging
ReplyDeleteOh, I so know what you mean! I have had times where I wonder what the point is, but at the end of the day I can't bear the thought of stopping. I think you need to just work out if it makes you happy or if you're doing it for someone else...
ReplyDeleteWhatever you decide to do I'm sure will be the right decision, but I do love reading your blog & if you keep blogging I will keep reading!! x
Sorry to read that you're feeling this way. But you have to do what makes you happy. Blog for yourself, not other people. But I know what you mean-- why blog if it seems like no one is reading? I read mostly other blogs in my niche (20-30 somethings, DIY projects and crafts, recipes). The writing, photos, and personality of the blogger makes me return to blogs. My advice would be to look at your favorite blogs, decide what you like about them (design, voice, photography, etc.) and try to model your blog after the things you like. :)
ReplyDeleteI agree you should do music posts. You were always good at suggesting new bands, I'm sure you are holding some gems from me.
ReplyDeleteMaybe just maybe I will suggest some for you.
Band of the day, its settled! Do it.
