It may look like Spring around here (with Summer coming soon), but it sure does not feel like it. Temps have been around 10 degrees with rain, for the last three weeks. Not nice. However, this week things look to be improving... Come on Spring!

8/3/12- Thoughtful Thursdays- Challenges
Thoughtful Thursdays is something I started last week....thought I'd drop a new feature in the blog to keep me motivated and to change things up a bit. Now, I like to keep things light here, so I probably won't start talking about politics, the financial crisis or the new topic that has lit up the internet- Kony 2012. (If you've read this blog for a while you know it's all about crafts, baking and flowers ;)
Yesterday after a yoga session, I worked on mastering the headstand. (This is being done over many sessions, not just one!) I've done yoga for a good amount of time, and am finding I need challenge in poses, and have decided to take on this. (By the way, I miss Lululemon).
It got me thinking about challenges in our daily lives, and how I think I need to take on more of them. Nothing wrong with a bit of personal challenge...so this is mine right now.
What's yours?

27/2/12- A time to start fresh
I have to thank you all for the amazing comments on my last post.
They were inspiring, thoughtful, positive, caring and full of motivation for myself to continue on. Everyone (or in Calgary we'd say y'all) has given me some great ideas for new posts like art, music, more recipes, local interest, crafts and baking.
It's also so uplifting to hear that you are enjoying what I do write about, and would like to hear more.
The last week of snowboarding in France was a great break, and gave me time to reflect and gather some new ideas to keep going, and make "This is Great Britain" even better.
Thank you.
How lovely are these blossoms? I don't know what they are, but saw them along the river last week. Made me think about spring as a time of renewal and freshness- just like my blogging ideas!
16/11/11- Where have I been?
Aloha!
Where have I been for the past two weeks you ask?
Maui!
We came out here for my oldest BFF's wedding, which was so beautiful and amazing, and along with that have had a fantastic trip to Maui.
We've got a few days left, and before we leave this island paradise I wanted to share some photos of some of the wonderful flowers found on the island.
Mahalo for sticking with my blog during my absence. Once I get back home to Canada, will share a few more snaps. But for now, its back to the warm island air and pina coladas.

18/3/11
Spring blooms are finally arriving! These were from a tree just outside the flat, and I couldn't help but grab a couple for a vase. Though it looks like a beautiful day right now (blue sky and sun at 9am) its only 0 degrees! Really hoping it gets to the days high of 12 soon.

I love daffys at this time of year, they are so cheerful and add a little color to an otherwise very dull and grey English sky.
I've got a couple lemons up on the windowsill for this tuesdays "pancake day" or as most of us know it Shrove Tuesday. They advertise pancake day like valentines day here (well maybe not that excessive). Even one whole section in M&S is roped off for all your pancake desires. Pancake mix, lemon, lemon juice, sugar, pre-made pancakes, and some syrups. In the UK they are very thin (like crepes) and they put lemon and sugar on them.
This post sounds familiar, and I believe I blogged about this last year on pancake day, will have to take a look.

Day 346- 13/9/10
A pretty little plant on the windowsill. There is something about having fresh plants in the flat I like.

Day 229- 19/5/10
We took a trip to Ikea today, but I didn't take any photos. Just imagine what your Ikea looks like.....and its the same as the one here, though everything is listed in pounds!
In lieu of an Ikea photo, here is a photo of the rape seed/canola that is blooming creating these brilliant fields of yellow!

Day 220- 10/5/10
One thing we noticed in Italy was the lack of green spaces and the lack of flowers in the city. Arriving back in England something that struck me. How green and lush everything is in the town, not just the countryside.
It's odd how something can seem to change even when you are away for only 11 days, I swear the trees are fuller and brighter with that time that passed.
Day 175- 27/3/10
A lovely spring day for doing errands around town. The sun was out, though the air still had a bit of a bite to it.
I also love photos of spring flowers (these for a friend), so please don't be surprised if many posts from this day on involve flowers.

Day 149- 1/3/10
I'm not sure if it was the bright sun, the blue sky, the first day of March or the glow of Canada's gold medal from hockey, but it was a beautiful day out today. It truly feels like spring is in bloom here, and I look forward to seeing if this will be the first month of March where I don't see any snow.
For the first time in a while I didn't have a sweater/jumper on under my coat, just a t-shirt. I was tempted to bring out the sunglasses, and even saw a couple cruising round with the top down. (Saying that, they were bundled up with scarves and jackets)
