5/10/11- Run!

The other day my cousin posted a blog entitled "Live a Little". In this post, she talked about the idea of setting goals, and the sense of achievement when you reach those goals.

I found this to be an inspiring post to read only days before my half marathon which I ran yesterday. It wasn't my first one, but nonetheless it was exciting, challenging and painful.  I obtained my PB this race, which was also great. After an experience like that I look forward to the next race and know my time will be even better.

I will leave you with a quote from my cousins post I thought was fitting. "So my friends, throw caution to the wind, try something scary, make a list, you really can do whatever you want! And it feels fabulous".

I agree.

  1. Hi Amanada, sadly I don't know how to contact you other than your blog so I'll just reply to your comment on my blog by adding a comment to one of you post.
Hey so another friend asked me for the pattern but I couldn't give it too her as honestly I just made it up as I went. (I often do that) I planning to remember to take pictures during my process of making things and blogging more often about what make with tutorials.

But sadly I can't give you a pattern for this exact skirt as I just used my own body measurments and sort of cut from what I figured would work.

But I just quickly looked up some patterns that resemble it and found this one from Buttericks, http://butterick.mccall.com/b5613-products-13754.php?page_id=367 It looks incredibly easy and you can totally alter it to your liking. There's a zipper on this pattern but I'd say if you want a skirt similar to the one I made just take away the zipper so you can add more of the gathered volume to the top of the skirt. Simply add more length to the top and gather it up, sew into place and then add a thick elastic waist band like mine to get that cute full look.

I hope that this helps. :)

P.S. That's awesome you ran a half marathon, I finally jogged my first 20 mins. Haha I realize that's nothing for you pros but I was thrilled. :)

  2. Congratulations on the run! I agree--we should all do something that makes us a little uncomfortable sometimes. Keeps life interesting!

  3. Congratulations for your PB and completing another half marathon! Such a champ. Maybe one day I'll do one, maybe.

I'm excited to do a race with you in October!

Also, because I read Teaka's comment I thought that you might like this (http://www.blogforbettersewing.com/2009/08/sew-full-gathered-skirt-part-one-make.html), I was thinking about making this skirt (so cute - love a full skirt) anyways there are a few more skirt patterns linked on the bottom of the post too :)
